TV presenter Davina McCall revealed on Saturday that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has already undergone surgery. The 58-year-old discovered a small lump several weeks ago and had it removed via lumpectomy nearly three weeks ago. The cancer was caught very early, with clear margins and no lymph node involvement.

McCall shared the news in an Instagram video, explaining how workplace signage prompted her to take action. She said: «I found a lump a few weeks ago, and it came and went, but then I was working on the Masked Singer and Lorraine, the TV show Lorraine Kelly, had put signs on the back of all the doors saying, check your breasts. And every time I went for a wee I did that, and it was still there. And then one morning, I saw it in the mirror, and I thought, I'm going to get that looked at.»

The biopsy confirmed breast cancer. «It was very, very small, so I got it very, very early, which is incredibly lucky, but I am so relieved to have had it removed, and to know that it hasn't spread,» McCall explained. Her lymph nodes were clear and none required removal. She will undergo five days of radiotherapy in January as a precautionary measure.

McCall acknowledged the emotional toll, stating she was initially "very angry" upon diagnosis but has since reached "a much more positive place." She thanked medical staff at Royal Marsden Hospital in London and gave special thanks to her partner, hairdresser Michael Douglas, for his support during treatment.

The presenter used her diagnosis to deliver a public health message, particularly for women with dense breast tissue. «I have dense breasts, and I had a mammogram in August, and I was postponing the ultrasound. I just couldn't find time to do it. Don't do that,» she said. McCall urged others to check themselves regularly and not delay medical appointments if they notice changes.

The diagnosis comes roughly a year after McCall underwent surgery to remove a benign brain tumor, a colloid cyst discovered during a health check related to her menopause advocacy work.
