From Oxford – about gene therapy in ophthalmology

Prof. Robert MacLaren’s lecture entitled “Gene therapy for retinal diseases” will be held on Wednesday, July 9 at 12:00 pm in the Auditorium at 1 Chmielna Street. “Gene therapy for retinal diseases”. The lecture is addressed to ophthalmologists and students. Prof. Robert MacLaren is a prominent ophthalmologist, an expert in macular diseases from Oxford University.

The visit is a continuation of cooperation with the Department of General and Pediatric Ophthalmology at USK 1, which is headed by Prof. Robert Rejdak. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss current projects and set directions for future cooperation, including the presentation of the headquarters of the European Center for Innovative Therapies for Macular Diseases, which will soon start operating in the building on Chmielna Street, which is being equipped. Professor MacLaren is an authority on the introduction of gene therapies, who conducts extensive research in this field, and cooperation with the Lublin center is expected to enable it on a larger scale also at USK 1.

On Tuesday, the 8th of July, surgical procedures will be carried out in the Department of General and Pediatric Ophthalmology by Prof. Robert Rejdak and his team, Prof. MacLaren will participate in them as a visitor.
