In the presence of more than 800 attendees at the ICO International Convention in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan, the president of the Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons of Poland (SCOP), Prof. Robert Rejdak, MD, received the dignity of Honorary Professor on October 4. The prestigious title was awarded to the head of the Department of General Ophthalmology, Medical University of Lublin by the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and the National Eye Microsurgery Center for outstanding scientific and professional achievements.
The honorary title was presented to the SCOP president by Prof. Azamat Yusupov, national consultant for ophthalmology of Uzbekistan and also director of the National Center for Eye Microsurgery in Tashkent and a network of public hospitals throughout the country. He introduced the congress participants to the achievements of Prof. Robert Rejdak, who inaugurated the two-day session with a lecture on the clinical treatment of ocular trauma.
The plenary session and panel discussions discussed the latest techniques and therapies for severe eye complications and injuries. They were attended not only by ophthalmologists from Uzbekistan, but also from the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and neighboring countries, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan. – We exchanged experiences in conducting complex ophthalmic procedures,” noted Professor Robert Rejdak. – In public and private health care, patients have access to modern diagnostic and surgical technologies. Treatment methods in ophthalmology clinics are no different from European ones and are at a very high level. It is necessary to emphasize especially the high level of development of digitization and digital service of these centers. I had the opportunity to convince myself of this while visiting the clinic in Tashkent and other centers, as this was my next visit to Uzbekistan.
As part of the partnership, doctors from Uzbekistan will participate in specialized courses in microsurgery of the eye, organized in a stationary and online format under the auspices of the University Clinic of General and Pediatric Ophthalmology in Lublin. – I will be the scientific director of these training courses,” the SCOP president constituted. – Prof. Azamat Yusupov and ophthalmologists from Uzbekistan will also participate in the SCOP Congress, which is planned in Lublin in February 2025. We intend to strengthen our cooperation at the level of clinical and educational activities between ophthalmological societies and our association.
Uzbekistan is strongly focused on the development of medical and ophthalmic services and highly values cooperation with the Polish medical community . It is a country with significant investment and trade potential, also offering numerous advantages for foreign entrepreneurs, including Polish companies. With a solid development strategy, it is becoming an increasingly attractive country for European partners.
