An eight-year-old girl has died following a medical episode at her primary school in Wales. Olivia-Grace Huxter was taken to hospital after the incident at Penrhys Primary School in Ferndale, Rhondda Cynon Taf, on Wednesday.

The schoolgirl died later in hospital despite medical treatment. The sudden death has prompted an outpouring of grief from her family and community.

Mother's heartfelt tribute

Olivia-Grace's mother Melanie Huxter paid tribute to her daughter in an emotional social media post. "My beautiful, beautiful baby girl, I can't eat, I can't sleep without you," she wrote.

"I'm so grateful I was able to hold you and sing you to sleep one last time with your favourite bedtime song. You were wanted, admired and absolutely adored by everyone lucky enough to have known you."

The grieving mother added: "I don't know what life will look like now. I love you to the moon and back… Twice."

Fundraising campaign launched

A fundraising campaign has been launched following Olivia-Grace's death and has raised nearly £10,000 for the family. The campaign organiser described how the young girl had overcome significant health challenges throughout her short life.

"Olivia-Grace was the centre of our universe. She overcame open heart surgery at six months old and pneumonia at five years old, consistently putting us in awe of her bravery and strength," they wrote.

The tribute continued: "She brought light into the lives of everyone who was lucky enough to know her. She would dance the hardest and sing the loudest. She was kind, funny, sassy, clever and wow was she beautiful."

Police investigation underway

South Wales Police have launched an investigation into Olivia-Grace's death. A force spokeswoman confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

"An investigation on behalf of the coroner is now under way," the police spokeswoman added. The investigation follows standard procedures for sudden deaths.
